Dr. Dan Silver, M.D.

Dr. Dan Silver, M.D. is an Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Arthroscopic and other minimally invasive techniques to correct injuries and deformities. He has extensive training and experience from performing tens of thousands of evaluations and over 13,000 arthroscopic surgeries over 30 years.

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Silver graduated with Honors from an accelerated combined program at the University of Michigan Medical School in 1968. Traveling west to Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, California, Dr. Silver took a Straight Surgery Internship, one of the best in the country. He spent the next year as a general practitioner in a large multi-specialty group. He then spent two years as a Captain in the U.S. Army as a General Medical Officer. It was during this tour that he decided on Orthopedic Surgery as his field of specialization.

Dr. Silver then spent four extremely valuable years at Orthopedic Hospital in Los Angeles. During that time, he worked with over thirty practicing Orthopedic Surgeons with vastly different philosophies, techniques, and approaches to many complicated problems from birth defects to sports trauma and reconstructive surgery for arthritis.

An independent and innovative thinker, Dr. Silver took the best ideas from all of these surgeons and his own experiences. He entered practice of Orthopedic Surgery in Los Angeles in 1976 as a unique practitioner.

For more than thirty years, Dr. Silver blended the compassion for patients and the "Art of Medicine" he learned from his Family Practitioner father with his own talents and personality.

Dr. Silver has always marched to his own drumbeat and believes in his own perception of what makes logical sense and is best for his patients. He tries to be on the leading edge of technology, but always considers the effects on his patients.

Dr. Silver is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery, and his professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Arthroscopic Association of North America, California Society of Industrial Medicine and Surgery, California Orthopedic Association, and International Arthroscopic Association.

Dr. Dan Silver has offices in both Encino, California and Bakersfield, California. He also provides orthopedic consulting for Choice Providers and Noble Community in Southern and Central California. He is on the orthopedic surgical staff of City of Angels Hospital, Sherman Oaks Hospital, and Encino-Tarzana Hospital. His surgical experience includes over 13,000 knees, hundreds of shoulders, and many other ankle, elbow and hip arthroscopic procedures performed since 1978. All have been recorded and documented on video and make up his extensive teaching library. Dr Silver also owns three patents on knee braces that have been used by hundreds of athletes.

For almost 10 years Dr. Silver has been the medical editor and orthopedic consultant for Southern California Tennis and Golf Magazine. Over the years he has also provided orthopedic care to many celebrities, the Joffrey Ballet, and many amateur and professional athletes.

Dr. Silver is family oriented, and spends as much free time as possible with his lovely wife Lynnette, his children Stephen, Michael, and Sophia, their three dogs, chinchillas, and Koi fish.
